Fisker Automotive returns to the industry with new investors which includes actor Leonardo DiCaprio. Fisker Automotive, the California based company was founded in the year 2007 by Henrik Fisker and Bernhard Koehler. The company made its debut with the world’s first plug-in hybrid vehicle, Karma in the North American International Auto Show 2008 and the car was launched in 2011. But the company had to stop the production of cars in the year 2012 after their battery supplier A123 system was bankrupted.
Henrik Fisker announced the return of his company Fisker Inc. on October this year. The company has planned to launch its successor to Karma, the Fisker EMotion in the second half of 2017. The company claims to produce electric cars that are entirely different from what is available to the customers now.
Fisker Inc. will spearhead a revolution in electric cars that will disrupt the electric vehicle market and change the world.
Said Henrik Fisker
The vehicle will also feature a battery that is expected to provide a longer life and range than any others on the market. These batteries will be developed by Fisker Nanotech which is the battery branch of Fisker Inc.
We’re teaming to create a new paradigm of what’s possible in the application of battery technology within the automotive sector.
Said Jack Kavanaugh, Chairman of Fisker Nanotech.
The company is now all set to make its debut with a vehicle that offers a longer electric range and an affordable retail price that is lesser than its competitors. The company also claims that the vehicle will feature more rear legroom and headroom than its competitors.
With our game-changing battery technology, now is the time to develop more affordable, mass market vehicles.
A strong shift towards electric vehicles is evident in recent times with all leading manufacturers trying to build one of their own. Fisker Inc. promises to be a company that looks to mass market electric vehicles at an affordable price while providing a longer electric range.
