Lucid Motors comes with a 300-Mile Range and 900-Horsepower EV

Lucid Motors-The latest competitor to Tesla

Atieva which has recently changed its name to Lucid Motors is a company founded by a group of former Tesla and Oracle executives. The company became widely known after its van Edna, which was rebuilt from the Mercedes-Benz Vito, was seen beating Tesla Model-S and Ferrari California in a drag race. Edna was incorporated with the company’s own power-train.

Lucid Motors was established as a company in 2007 with the principle focus on developing a battery system which could run on all major vehicles. Later they expanded their efforts to develop a complete power-train system of their own. As a result, this marked their entry into the development of complete electric vehicles. They have now started engineering an electric vehicle of their own.

We plan to lead in this new era of mobility by returning to the fundamentals of great design – where every decision we make is in service of the individual. Because when you are no longer bound by convention, you are free to define your own experience.

The 300-mile EV

The electric car manufacturer is expected to show their concept version of its electric sedan by the end of this year and are expected to start their sales by 2018. The sedan will incorporate an 87-kilowatt-hour battery which would provide the car with an astonishing 900 horsepower and a 300 miles plus of range. Also, the car is expected to have an acceleration time of less than three seconds from 0-60 miles per hour.

As electric car drives to be the future of automotive industry and it is evident that all leading car manufacturers are on the verge of developing one of their own. The California based Lucid Motors promises to offer a good competition to Tesla, one of the established electric car manufacturers.
